About Me

Hey, it’s Jon! I’m a graphic designer and digital illustrator currently based in sunny Sarasota Florida. Here’s a little bit about how I got to where I am today: I started my life in Connecticut, moved with my family to Minnesota when I was eight years old, and then moved to Florida when I was twelve. Growing up in a house with parents whose jobs were in finance and management, my grandfather, a musician, knew he had to stimulate the creative side of my brain. One summer while I was in middle school, my grandfather tried a lot of different things (from violin to painting to sports), but when he handed me a book on Cartooning Animals, my eyes lit up and my hand took off.

That book was the launchpad for my education and my career. I graduated from Ringling School of Art and Design (here in Sarasota) in 1999 with a BFA in Illustration with a focus on Digital Imaging and Photography. I showed such promise, and had such a great rapport with some of my professors that they are still friends and colleagues of mine to this day. From all my years of drawing, I gained a strong understanding and mastery of composition, color, and design, which led me into a career in Graphic Design.

Tons of people say they have a “wide range of experience”…I truly do. I have done work for newspapers, sign shops, giclée studios, marketing agencies, tattoo shops, film production companies, and so much more. This variety is also reflected in my interests – cartoons (from “Superjail” to “The Simpsons”), travel (from Baltimore to Paris), art (from Dalí’s paintings to Mozart’s symphonies), music (from the Groovie Ghoulies to Dean Martin), toys (from the grotesque to the adorable), and movies (from “Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead” to “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”).

In short, I’m an illustrating, movie-watching, graphic designing, pop culture loving, toy collecting, technology loving, business savvy, traveling, cartoon-watching, art appreciating, music listening kind of guy who can’t wait to see where life takes him next.
